Camden Women’s Shelter Partners with Women’s Community Shelters to Open and Support a new Liverpool Crisis Shelter

Camden Women’s Shelter (CWS) is pleased to share that we have partnered with Women’s Community Shelters (WCS) to support the opening and operation of a new women’s crisis shelter in the Liverpool LGA. This partnership responds to the urgent local need for safe, short-term accommodation and specialised case management support for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.

Women’s Community Shelters is running a community fundraising campaign to raise the necessary operational funding. We are fortunate that a four-bedroom house has been provided at a peppercorn lease. We also wish to reassure supporters that all funding for the Liverpool shelter has been secured independently.

CWS’s support for the project is to step in temporarily to manage the provision of case management services (for a period of up to two years), to ensure no one in crisis is turned away whilst the Liverpool shelter finalises its own local leadership.

Just as we do in Camden, our mission in Liverpool focuses on 24/7 crisis accommodation, case management, and wraparound support to help families rebuild their lives. BWH CWS will oversee daily operations until a dedicated Liverpool-based Board of Directors is established—at which point, we will hand over full responsibility to the newly formed team. Our goal is to provide immediate support so the local community can eventually run the shelter independently and sustainably.

This partnership reflects our belief that no woman or child should face homelessness or domestic violence alone. By collaborating with WCS—a network already known for its expertise in establishing safe shelters —we are working towards a seamless system of crisis support in South-West Sydney. Through strengthened resources and coordination, we aim to ensure every woman who needs help can find it quickly and compassionately.

BWH CWS is grateful for the extraordinary support of the local Camden community. We wish to reassure donors that all funds raised by BWH CWS will continue to support the operations of BWH CWS. Our local focus in Camden remains uncompromised.

If you would like to learn more, volunteer, or donate to our efforts, please email bluewrenhouse@camdenwomensshelter.org.au or call 0450 032 584. Together, we can ensure families in both Camden and Liverpool have a safe place to call home when they need it most. Donations can be made online here

Note on Fundraising and Donations

Funds raised for Camden Women’s Shelter are only used for our Camden operations unless a donor specifically requests their contribution be directed to Liverpool. In such cases, we will provide alternate details to ensure your support goes exactly where you intend.
